What slows a Shopify store down
Shopify's servers are fast and its own themes are built for speed. What slows most stores down is what gets added on top:
- App stylesheets and scripts. Chat, reviews, pop-ups, wishlists and upsell apps each add files, usually from
cdn.shopify.com/extensions. If one of them is still downloading when the page is ready to draw, the first screen waits for it. - Tracking and session recording. Recorders such as Microsoft Clarity start work the moment the page opens. On Inlinex, Clarity alone added about a second on Google's test.
- Videos in product descriptions. One YouTube embed loads about 630 KB of player code, even if nobody presses play.
- Redirects. A menu link that points at an old address costs about a second on Google's test, and real shoppers wait for it too.
- Things nobody sees yet. Cart drawers, product rails and Instagram feeds far down the page still download up front.
- A heavy first screen. A large banner photo, a slideshow or a background video at the very top of the page.
That's why uninstalling an app or compressing images often barely moves the score. What matters is which files hold up the first screen, and only measuring your own store tells you. How the PageSpeed score works.
What we change on Shopify
All of it in your theme's own code: nothing extra to install, and it keeps working after we're done.
- App stylesheets stop blocking the first screen
The apps stay; their styles load in the background.
- Chat, reviews and recorders wait for the first touch
They start when someone taps or scrolls, or a few seconds after the page loads.
- Videos load when scrolled near
YouTube and Vimeo frames in product descriptions stop loading up front.
product page 57 → 86 - Hidden parts stop holding up the page
Cart drawer styles and far-down sections no longer compete with the first screen.
- Links skip the redirect
Menu and page links point straight at the final address.
16 menu links fixed on Inlinex - All four scores, not just one
Contrast, tap sizes and tidy code, so Accessibility, Best Practices and SEO go green too.
100 / 100 / 100 / 100 on Inlinex
How it works
- Free checkType your address above. In about a minute: your PageSpeed score, real-visitor data and the files holding up your first screen.
- Full auditFour or more runs of Google's own test on your home, product and collection pages.
- Fixes on a copyWe duplicate your live theme and make every change there. Shoppers see nothing.
- Proof, then liveBefore and after on Google's machine, then live only with your written OK. Full backup and one-step undo.
Why not just install a speed app?
Speed apps compress images, add lazy loading or delay scripts for you, and some help a little. But a speed app is one more app loading on every page, it applies the same rules to every store instead of measuring yours, and its changes stop the day you uninstall it. We change the theme itself, measure the result on Google's machine, and leave nothing running afterwards.
Shopify's speed report or PageSpeed Insights?
The web performance report in your Shopify admin shows Core Web Vitals from your real visitors. It tells you whether there's a problem, not what's causing it. PageSpeed Insights shows Google's own real-visitor data for your store plus a lab score from one simulated phone. We use both: the real-visitor data for what Google ranks on, and the lab test to find the files to fix. New to the report? Every item in plain English.
Prices
The speed check is free. Fixes are S$350 once, including GST, and refunded if the median of 4 or more Google runs on the fixed pages isn't higher than before. Speed care is S$50 a month (minimum 6 months) to keep the store fast after new apps and theme updates. What each includes.

Which Shopify themes do you work on?
Free Shopify themes such as Dawn, paid themes from the Theme Store, and customised themes. The audit looks at your actual theme and apps, so we never apply a one-size-fits-all script.
Will you remove any of my apps?
No. Your apps keep working. Some start a moment later, at the shopper's first tap or after a few seconds. If an app costs a lot of speed and isn't doing much for you, we'll point it out and you decide.
Do you need my Shopify login?
No. We send a collaborator request from our Shopify Partner account asking for Themes and Edit code only (plus Navigation if menu links need fixing). It doesn't use one of your staff seats, can't see orders, customers or payments, and you remove it when we finish.
Will my store go down or look different?
No. Every change is made on a copy of your theme. Your live store changes only after you approve the result, and we keep a full backup with a one-step undo.
Can you get my Shopify store to 100?
Sometimes. Inlinex scores 100 when Google's test starts on time and 93-96 when it starts late. A store with many heavy apps may not reach 100 without dropping one. What we promise is that the median of 4 or more Google runs goes up, or your money back.
Will a faster store help my Shopify SEO?
It can tip close calls. Google ranks on real-visitor Core Web Vitals, so if yours already pass, don't expect a jump. It still helps sales: as a page goes from 1 to 3 seconds to load, the chance a visitor leaves rises by 32% (Google).
